Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation

 $44.00

The Pro:Justin St. Clair
The Clients: VS Angels and Celine Dion
“This foundation is elastic, wrapping the skin for a flawless finish while providing excellent coverage all day and night.”

Makeup For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation

$43.00

The Pro: Keita Moore

The Clients: Nicki Minaj, Janet Mock, Issa Rae, Mariah Carey

“This foundation is so pigmented. I love that it keeps the skin texture and is very easy to set. The stick makes it easy for this creamy formula to glide on. To start, I apply the foundation in the T-zone area then buff what’s left outward using a dampened beauty blender or foundation brush.”

Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation

The ProAdam Burrell

The Clients: Ava DuVernay, Jennifer Hudson, Little Mix

“Kat Von D’s Lock It Foundation is pure pigment in a bottle and available in 44 shades. Despite being the fullest coverage foundation I’ve ever used, it gives a natural finish. One pump of this goes a very long way and hides every imperfection. I love that I can sheer it out with moisturizer for a soft pretty look or go ham and go full glam.”

Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation

$40.00

The Pro: Allan Avendaño

The Clients: Constance Wu, Mindy Kaling, Hilary Duff

“Dior Backstage Foundation has been my go-to foundation.  It can be used as a full coverage foundation but also has capabilities of giving you a sheer coverage look.  The shade range is incomparable and the portability is perfect because of its plastic lightweight bottle. It’s a foundation made for makeup artists but so easy and foolproof for any level of makeup skill.”

La Mer Soft Fluid Long Wear Foundation SPF 20

$120.00

The Pro: Mary Phillips

The Clients: The KarJenners, Hailey Baldwin, Bella Hadid

“I love the The La Mer Soft Fluid Longwear Foundation for its full lasting coverage. I simply pump the foundation onto my hand and take the La Mer Powder brush to the product and lightly apply a layer to the skin. This can be medium/full coverage with one layer or full coverage with two. This foundation goes on smooth and covers imperfections while giving your skin treatment. Plus, it’s weather resistant and will last all day.”

Danessa Myricks Vision Cream Cover

$5.00 – $28.00

The Pro: Keita Moore

“My favorite thing about this foundation is that it’s an all-in-one concealer/foundation and one pump goes a long way. There are 29 shades that are spot on. I like to apply a small amount where most needed and then use my fingers to buff out everywhere else.”

La Mer The Luminous Lifting Cushion Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20

$120.00

The Pro: Mary Phillips

The Clients: The KarJenners, Hailey Baldwin, Bella Hadid

“The La Mer Luminous Lifting Cushion Foundation is great for a radiant glow with buildable coverage. For application, I use the La Mer Powder Brush and press it onto the cushion and buff it into the face for an airbrushed finish. For a more even skin tone, I add more product where coverage is needed. This formula contains Miracle Broth, leaving the skin with a hydrated natural glow. I recommend setting this with the La Mer Sheer Pressed Powder for a lasting look.”

Cover FX Total Cover Cream Foundation SPF 30 – N 90

$42.00

The Pro: Adam Burrell

“Cover FX Cream Foundation is one of my all-time favourite foundations. I apply it using a synthetic, fluffy foundation brush in circular motions, buffing and polishing it into the skin, which gives it the most beautiful, flawless finish but natural with a subtle glow. Being in a compact size makes it great for quick touch-ups, too. It’s also great for dry skin.”

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation

$35.00

The Pro: Priscilla Ono

The Clients: Rihanna, Fenty Beauty

“Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation is the one product I can’t live without! It has a buildable formula with medium-to-full coverage, so you can easily hide any imperfections. It also feels really lightweight and doesn’t cake, so skin still looks like skin. The formula is also sweat and humidity proof, which makes it a must-have for the hot summer months. Another huge plus is that it’s available in an amazing range of 50 shades. Using the right tools to apply your foundation is just as important as picking the right shade! I like to buff foundation into the skin using a full density foundation brush or a damp sponge for a flawless, even application. This creates a beautiful, airbrushed appearance because it allows the product to blend seamlessly into the skin.”

Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup

$42.00

The Pro: Camara Aunique

The Clients: Angela Bassett, Tarana Burke, June Ambrose

“My favourite foundation is Estée Lauder Double wear foundation. It comes in a wide range of colours for all skin types and applies like skin.”

Covergirl TruBlend Matte Made Liquid Foundation

$11.49

The Pro: Ash K. Holm

The Clients: Kris Jenner, Bebe Rexha, Shay Mitchell

“This foundation has been a staple for me because it gives your skin a filtered and flawless look. It’s transfer-proof, blurs the appearance of pores, and minimizes imperfections. It has a natural matte finish with instant coverage that lasts all day. I recommend prepping your skin with 1-2 pumps of a face oil then apply a lightweight moisturizer. This gives the skin a natural glow that will shine through the foundation. Using a damp Beauty Blender, stipple the foundation onto the skin for a seamless look with no streaks. To complete the look, I like to power group this foundation with the TruBlend Undercover concealer.”

Clinique Even Better Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15

$29.00

The Pro: Camara Aunique

“Clinique’s Even Better foundation has moderate but buildable coverage that allows you to control how much is applied. I sometimes use La Mer’s Foundation brush to apply the foundation because it’s super soft and controls the amount of foundation I use or a wet beauty blender for a lighter natural finish.”

The 10 Best Natural & Nontoxic Foundations For Any Skin Tone

0

Finding a natural, or at least non-toxic, foundation that works for your needs and specific skin tone used to be a major struggle. Not only were the options more limited than with traditional brands, but the colour range and textures used to be less diverse. (Although that colour range complaint could have been said about most foundation collections.) Now, options abound! Collection shades span up to 45 hues. You can find endless texture variations from oils and whipped moisturizers to powders. Coverage goes from barely there to full-face.

And the options only continue to grow: Just on this list alone, there are six new formulas to try out! So if you’re in the market for something new, try out one of these. Not only are the ingredients clean, but they’re the highest quality we’ve tried.

Jane Iredale Beyond Matte Liquid Foundation

The brand’s newest foundation launch is perhaps their most impressive: A shine-controlling liquid launched in 18 diverse shades. The semi-matte finish comes from the peptides, and a combo of linseed and celery seed extracts give that smooth, airbrushed-like finish.

RMS Beauty “Un”Cover-Up Cream Foundation

You have to feel this foundation to understand why it’s special: It’s basically the texture of a whipped moisturizer, and rubs in like one too. And while RMS Beauty is known for their sheer-leaning cosmetics (just their aesthetic!), this packs major pigment and a velvet-like finish.

Burt’s Bees Goodness Glow Tinted Moisturizer

For the tinted moisturizer fans among us, Burt’s Bees’ newest is, as the name might suggest, good. Tinted moisturizers either fall too heavy on either the tinted or moisturizer side, but with a blend of oils and just enough coverage, this strikes the perfect balance.

Guerlain L’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation

The most surprising of the mix: This classic French beauty staple’s new 97% natural formula. In pivoting toward natural ingredients, the brand misses nothing of what you might come to expect from them with a silky smooth finish, buildable coverage, and ultra-luxe feel.

Vapour Beauty Velvet Glow Foundation

Vapour Beauty may be a mainstay for many clean and natural makeup lovers, but they recently got a little makeover themselves. Not only did they launch all-new (more sustainable) packaging and higher color payoff, but 97% of the products were reformulated with significantly less or no water, in an effort to temper the beauty industry’s consumption—including this serum-like foundation.

Ilia True Skin Serum Foundation

Consider it an instant classic: The finish is what I can only describe as “refreshed.” It’s a lighter coverage so your skin can still peek through, and the potent skin-care-like ingredients plump the skin and help minimize pores.

Alima Pure Satin Matte Foundation

This is ideal for those who prefer a powder option: It’s made with just mica, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, and iron oxide. And it comes in 45 shades with five types of undertones, so you are sure to find one that works for you.

Kosås Tinted Face Oil

For any and all face oil fans: This is the foundation for you. When picking a coverup, it’s always important to remember bases (if you use conflicting ones, it can cause pilling and the like). So if you’re go-to skin care regimen is oil-based, the six botanical oils in this will mix effortlessly in.

Ere Perez Oat Milk Foundation

Made with ultra-trendy oat milk, this liquid-cream foundation is great for sensitive skin types. It sheers out pretty easily, so it’s ideal for those just looking to even tone, not necessarily full coverage.

W3LL People Narcissist Foundation Stick

Sticks are great not only for travel (TSA-friendly!) and gym bags but for people who don’t like to deal with foundation brushes or blenders. Just slick it around, and then blend in with your fingers. It melts so easily into the skin.

Best Biodegradable Wipes You Should Buy Right Now

0

A cleanser, a flannel or muslin cloth, and fresh water are the winning combination when it comes to washing your face thoroughly, but there are situations when that isn’t possible — like when you don’t have easy access to clean running water when you’re camping, at a festival, travelling, or in hospital. On those occasions, you may need to use a cleansing wipe or baby wipe to clean yourself. The good news is, you can minimise the harmful environmental effects of these wipes by opting for those that are biodegradable and eco-friendly.

Biodegradable wipes will help reduce the incredible amount of wipes that are clogging sewers, piling up in landfills, and washing up on beaches around the world, putting marine life at risk. Fan Bingbing Launches Her Own Beauty Brand

0
In case you’re wondering what Chinese actress Fan Bingbing is up to recently after keeping a low profile, she just launched a beauty brand. Her first product? A water gel mask.

If you know her, you’d know that she loves face masks and wears two a day. So it’s unsurprising that one of the first products of her beauty brand, Fan Beauty, is a mask. A poster on Fan Beauty’s official Weibo account describes the actress as the founder of the beauty brand.

There is also a video of Bingbing promoting the beauty product on the Weibo account, as she announced that sales will kick off in Hong Kong on Friday 26th April.

On Monday, the 37-year-old superstar appeared in public for the first time since her tax-evasion scandal broke in May 2018. She turned up on the red carpet of video-streaming company iQiyi’s ninth anniversary gala in Beijing, donning an Alexander McQueen suit and carrying a Louis Vuitton handbag.

Bingbing has been stepping up her social media presence since the turn of the year when she wished her fans “Happy New Year” on the eve of Chinese New Year in February.

She praised the movie The Crossing, directed by the first-time director Bai Xue, on Weibo in March, and paid tribute to the Chinese firefighters who died while tackling a huge forest blaze in Sichuan in April.

She is slated to begin shooting for Hollywood movie 355, an all-female spy thriller which also stars Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard and Lupita Nyong’o.

The Rise Of Male Beauty

0
Male Beauty

It’s no question that in this day and age that male beauty is on the rise and is here to stay.

Whereas before it was common and expected that men were kept ungroomed and scruffy, nowadays men dedicate time to their hair, and skin as well as the way they dress. To women, this can be seen as levelling the playing field as it is now both genders giving importance to TCL. So let’s further explore the phenomena that is male beauty…

Until recently, cosmetics were only targeted at girls however at the start of January 2019, the world admired Chanel launched their first ever line of cosmetics for men “ Boy de Chanel”. The line includes foundation, brow pencil and lip balm. Channel, however, is far from being the only brand to cater “Beauty for Boys”- what males who invest in self-maintenance are called in the beauty industry. Other brands include MMUK and Edward Bess.

Makeup isn’t the only thing now being targeted to men! Hair removal such as waxing, laser, and threading have also opened their doors to males. In the past, the only hair removal men were invested in was shaving for their beards. Nowadays men do all the works to keep up with their celebrity idols such as David Beckham, Idris Elba, and Tom Hiddleston. Similarly, the hair care industry– specifically the beard care industry is booming as men are now seeing the benefits of shampooing and trimming them to the perfect shape.

Modern male fashion trends are often accompanied with trendy hair such as the man bun which is an ordinary bun but a hint messier and as the name suggests worn by males.

Fashion may be a little less stark than hair or skin care since if you go to a unisex clothing shop the majority of space will be taken up with just women’s clothes. This is slowly changing and can be seen in shops like Primark where they dedicate a whole floor to men. Nowadays, largely thanks to social media, men feel more inclined to dress in a stylish way and follow trends.

With all this being said it is important to note that this trend is predominantly millennial men as they are more willing to challenge gender roles than men from older generations. Could this change in male gender roles and stereotypes be ever-growing?

What do you think about men featuring in the beauty industry?

Jeffree Star’s Makeup Warehouse Robbery

0

Is More Serious Than You Think

If you thought your Mercury retrograde was dramatic, then you’ve never had $2.5 million worth of makeup stolen from your warehouse. According to a new YouTube video posted by Jeffree Star, is exactly what happened to the makeup artist last month.
Images of Star’s new concealer leaked online this past weekend — but it wasn’t until today that fans learned how the never-before-seen product made its way to the internet.

As Star explains in the video, titled “My Concealer Line Was Stolen & Leaked ($2.5 Million of Makeup Hijacked),” a massive robbery allegedly took place at one of his facility warehouses on March 15.

“This is the biggest theft I’ve ever experienced in my entire career,” he says. The news comes just a year after $4.5 million worth of makeup was stolen from L.A. warehouse that was known for storing Anastasia Beverly Hills-branded makeup.

But this goes deeper than thousands of units of the unreleased product being stolen — it affects fans, too. Star explains that if you saw leaks off his upcoming concealer online this past weekend, it’s most likely stock taken from the robbery, being sold on the black market. “If I’ve never shown or talked about something, you know it’s wrong,” he says to the camera, seemingly suggesting that these aren’t just potentially stolen goods, but also unregulated formulas not made by his team.

This isn’t the first time Star has noticed his cosmetics being sold online without his permission: In 2016, unauthorized vendors were caught selling counterfeit versions off his velour liquid lipstick.
But even with his fans’ help, Star still knows that this is a case for the FBI.
